2024-2025 Winter All-Star / Rep Program
Advanced Development Program towards competitive All-Star/Rep Soccer
Advanced/ Academy Training is for players who CBSC classify as "beyond House League players". These players already have a good sense of the game, they know how to pass or shoot the ball, are most often athletic, etc. It's important that parents are just as committed since there are 1-2 practices/ week along with games if the player moves to the Rep division and a greater financial commitment.
The goal of the program is to give each player a solid foundation in soccer skills, to help each player gain knowledge of the game and to balance the desire to win with the goal of ensuring that all players are given the opportunity to play and contribute. Focus is on Ontario Soccer's “Four Corners” Approach:
Physical: flexibility, disciplined warm-up and cool-down, agility, endurance, core strength and stability, balance, diet and nutrition (pre-game, post-game, tournaments), prevention/ care of injuries, rest/ recovery.
Technical/ Tactical: Introduction of advanced techniques to those who are capable, technical acquisition in a more complex environment plus position-specific skills, as well as team-work, task development per defensive, mid-field or forward unit, positional awareness.
Mental: pre-competition routine, mental preparation, goal setting, coping with winning and losing.
Social/ Emotional: encouragement and support to help players be the best they can be, instilling the importance of fair play and being a good sport.
In the U9-U12 age groups Cherry Beach Soccer Club has adopted Ontario Soccer’s ‘Player Development Model’ which is referred to within the club as ‘Academy training’.
