Player Development Programs - Description
  • Emphasis is on Skills & Drills along with game scrimmages.  All soccer players have either spent time training & practising with parents and/or in other development formats to become dominant competitive players.
  • Recreational House League - the emphasis here is on the Game & FUN.  Many teams are coached by volunteer parents and the goal is to create a FUN & FRIENDLY soccer playing environment.  Boys & girls 4+ years old receive a uniform & soccer ball and learn to play the game of soccer. For many players and parents, it’s an introduction to the game, an inexpensive sporting activity to keep their kids fit, active and to give them team bonding experiences. All players are to receive equal playing time regardless of skill level. There are limited development opportunities under this format since the focus is playing.
  • All-Star/Select Program - players are selected from the House League Program who demonstrate that they can play at a higher level and are willing to train as a collective group to form an All-Star team.  Parents/players must be willing to commit more time to attend additional practices per week (1-2) & dollars to be part of this program.  The ultimate goal is to have these boys/girls ready to compete & enter Festivals/Tournaments in the year they turn 8.  Some teams, coaches, players and parents may just come together every summer as an All-Star team, while others may go on to enter more competitive OSA sanctioned leagues with the TSA, CSL, CGSL OYSL etc.
  • Rep Program - Cherry Beach Soccer Club is a sanctioned OSA &TSA member.  Every year by February 28, the Club enters a number of boys & girls teams in the TSA and/or CGSL/CSL Leagues. In most cases these are the best players representing the Club in competitive play. They are the image of the Club. Teams and players must have home/away uniforms and there are league, referee, practice fields, coaching and equipments fees that make up each team budget. Most coaches in our Rep division are paid and coach a minimum of two practices and a league game per week from the end of April until September.

Basic/Advanced Development

Basic Development Program:
  • The emphasis under this program is Skills & Drills for the individual player, no uniform or ball is issued.
  • An introductory program for players under the direction of experienced and certified coaches and assistants.  Throughout the practices, there are fun & friendly scrimmages.
  • Players who dominate may be directed to more Advanced Development Programs, competitive All-Star/Rep teams and/or may be encouraged to play up in age group.
  • Coaches will create a FUN environment to foster development in passing, shooting, dribbling along with positional and player fitness.

Advanced Development Program:
  • Again, emphasis is on Skills & Drills, but the practices are more complicated and played at a faster pace.
  • The players, both boys & girls, are usually above-average in house league play, score or prevent goals, have great ball control, good sense of the game, are athletic and seek out the ball without persuasion from coaches.
  • Players must be invited into this program and those decisions are made by the Club's Technical Directors and coaches leading these sessions.
  • This is a stepping stone for these boys and girls towards joining a CBSC competitive team as All-Stars at U8 & Rep at U9.
Futsal Programming
Today, playing futsal is looked upon as a major tool in helping to develop ball skills and football knowledge, particularly in young players. For those reasons Cherry Beach Soccer Club has worked at extending knowledge of and participation in the game within the club.
