Match Official Development
At CBSC we have a number of opportunites for people to become active in officiating games. From Game Leaders at the younger age groups, right through to our adult leagues in the summer and winter, these positions are usually paid.
The aim of the Match official development program is to maintain a high level of standard in officiating, and have all officials work to achieve the same expected levels across the board.
Referee assessments are a main component of the development program. During both winter and summer seasons, each referee is assessed a minimum of two times, randomly and without prior notice. The assessments are conducted by the head referee, associate head referee and external assessors.
The referee's performance is evaluated against standards established by Ontario Soccer. Following the game, the assessor communicates both the strengths and weaknesses of the on-field referee's performance. The results of these assessments are used to help determine each referee's future assignments.
In addition to this Cherry Beach Soccer Club will be implementing a mentorship program, whereby newer and younger referees will be assigned more experienced officials to whom they can turn for advice and pointers.
