WEATHER POLICY
2017-05-05The Canadian Soccer Association and Toronto Soccer Association views the safety of players, coaches, match officials and spectators as our #1 priority. It is therefore the responsibility of match and Club officials to be aware of the dangers of extreme weather and what to do in each situation.
WEATHER/LIGHTNING POLICY
This is a difficult one to predict for many sports organizations operating outdoors.
First off, in our outdoor season and during regular league games or tournament time we make every effort to get the games in since we have already booked fields and referee for the event and/or league games.
Weather conditions can vary from location to location and from time to time, but we usually make a decision 30 minutes prior to any game. If there is no announcement on our website or an email, it might be just too close to call and most likely we will be proceeding. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause if we do have to call it off ... but it’s better to attend to make sure.
We definitely don't proceed if there is lightning or thunderstorms at the start of a game and/or when there is a steady and heavy downpour. However, should there only be a light drizzle without lightning or thunderstorms we proceed as usual.
Unlike many other clubs and/or grass fields which may be closed due to weather conditions that could damage the field, on turf fields games are rarely cancelled due to weather since they drain so well. More games are played on turf!
The Club will do its best to post updates on our website Ticker Announcement area and will attempt to answer all calls if games are cancelled. However, please check our website as often as possible.
Please call our office at 416-367-4359 to get an answer or visit the websiste rather than sending us an email.
The following directives MUST be adhered to at all times:
